Vacation Gifts - Disney Jewellery, Heart Jewellery Or Other Trinkets?
When we ran our property management company we were asked all sorts of questions about the most unlikely topics imaginable - at least, unlikely to us! For example:
Where can I get the oil changed for my car?
Don’t you have a house where the kitchen is on the right - the one you’ve sent me pictures of has the kitchen on the left?
Why is there no water in this pool? (see previous posting!)
Can’t I move to another house? This one doesn’t have a double-door fridge and that would completely ruin my vacation
We obviously had to be polite, but we didn’t have a great deal of sympathy with questions like these. Staying in a vacation home means that you should expect clean, well-maintained accommodation but you also need to be somewhat self sufficient - and use that most basic of assets, common sense!
One type of question that did bring more sympathy was the plaintive request for ideas on what to buy as a present for friends and family back home - those who were expecting a gift when the family returned to their regular routine - and we had experienced this problem ourselves on many occasions before we moved to Florida.
So what do you buy for that friend who has everything or for your parents who are unwilling or unable to tell you what they’d like? In case you’re in that same situation, here are some thoughts:
- Looking for something small but Disney-related? Try Disney character keychains or Disney jewellery. Downtown Disney has a great set of stores where you can find a whole variety of great ideas - pins, brooches, necklaces and so on.
- For a romantic friend - how about heart jewellery? In addition to Downtown Disney try the Florida Mall or the Millenia Mall.
- Clothes: The Disney Store at Downtown Disney - they generally have a great choice.
- Books: Our absolute favorite is Barnes and Noble - over on the Orange Blossom Trail opposite the Florida Mall. There’s something so peaceful and reassuring about the store, with row upon row of books covering very nearly every topic you can think of. With the coffee shop for refreshments and seats to relax in while you browse, the store is worth a visit even if you don’t have a need to buy something for a friend or relative!
So there’s a few ideas - at the end of the day it’s a personal decision and only you know what will work and what won’t. But good luck and we hope it goes well.
